Some People Just Want To Live In The Dark Ages, Apparently(!)

There is a place, known as Father's room. In it hangs .... wait for it .... appropriately batten all hatches ....;

Two lamp holders. One is controlled by a Rocker on the wall. While the 3-way gang is controlled by a Pullcord, conveniently mounted just above the bed.

Apparently, everyone in the Capitalist world just buy a 220-240v (mains) beside lamp. While those with abilities can do so much better, alongside anyone who's prepared to pay.

Officially, by Trade, my Father's an Electrician. He mainly worked on the Railroads, alongside the very big Eddies.

Yet, for as long as any of us can remember, neither of those light switches have worked.

Just as the Sun was going down on Christmas Eve 2024 the cord on Pullcord on the ceiling lamp holder in that house I've got just to do laundry in frayed and snapped off.

So as soon as the shops opened again I marched off to get and fit a new Pullcord, in less time than it took some people to notice. After he certified and signed off my work as safe, frankly a bit better than his, I did point out to my Father that I could replace both of the light switches in his room. It would cost him all of £6 and me all of 10mins.

He refused.

This Tuesday (7/4) I finally got the work order approved! So stitched the Rocker up on Wednesday (8/4), whilst painfully hungover. Today (10/4) I installed the Pullcord.
