*tuts* Always The Way, With Some People(!)

Obviously it's got the slapstick battle between National Socialists (Fascists) and Marxist Socialists (Communists). Something which dominated the Developing world throughout the Neo-Colonial Era. Last year's huge movie; "I'm Still Here" looked at the topic in a lot of detail, particularly in terms of Brazil and Latin America.

However The Oscars role in helping the US in its annual renegotiation of it's Social Contract is only one, civic duty, element of The Oscars. Primarily it's an event by a professional association serving an important role within the Movie & TV industry. "One Battle After Another" (2025) shows that role.

I think we've all got that one workmate who just gets it. We've also got that one workmate who needs it explained to them over and over again. I think we all know which workmate we prefer working with.

Now imagine you get to choose the workmates you're going to work with over the next year.

The Oscars allows people in the industry to feel out who just gets it. Particularly if you actually read the credits you'll notice that the same people often work together over and over again. So it's not a question of giving a right or wrong answer on the talking points so much as giving the same answer as everyone else in the group.

As consumers of Movies we can do the same sort of thing. If you've liked a Movie by a Director or Actor etc you might want to watch another Movie they make. You know they just get it.

I recently had this sort of thing with Amanda Seyfried.

I'm Still Here looked a lot at The Mechanics of Totalitarianism. How Emperor Pedro I placed a check on the Executive Branch by establishing a Legislative Branch. What checks on the power of both can be exerted by the Judicial Brach; "Judicial Review."

Recently Israel got itself into a terrible mess over just one grounds for Judicial Review; "The Reasonableness Doctrine."

The Quakers actually played a major role in Britain scrapping the Reasonableness Doctrine for Judicial Review. Their name comes from their leader telling a Judge that the law of man quakes before the law of God. It's unreasonable for someone to have to follow a law that goes against their religious beliefs.

So seeing that Amanda Seyfried has been working on something I've been working on makes me think that she just gets it, as far as I'm concerned. Plus I recently saw her in; "Long Bright River" (2025) which includes topics we both seem to find interesting while reminding me that she can really act.

Of course Amanda Seyfried is already a member of the Academy, she's been Oscar Nominated before. This year was always Jessie Buckley's year. So with Amanda Seyfried, nor anyone else, going to win it made more sense to give other people their first nominations.

Plus "The Testament Of Ann Lee" (2025) is made by many of the same people behind; "The Brutalist" (2024). It's unfair for them to dominate every year.
