I'm Sure She's Still Got Friends In Milan Though.

I wouldn't have minded the time to look more at Fortunio Licieti and his work. He was one of those Polymaths who existed at the end of The Dark Ages and the start of The Age of Enlightenment. With nothing having been done in any field it was easy to be a leader in every field.

Licieti seemed to have a particular interest in early medicine. Something which the Roman Catholic Church severely hampered with its ban on depictions of things like Human bones and muscles. His coded illustrations of skulls was really a resistance against that censorship. His Book of Monsters was more of a exploration of the concept of deformity rather than any statement about it. However as an attempt to illuminate the darkness of knowledge it challenged the notion of deformity as a form of evil. His illustrations were extremely high quality, showing a sort of beauty in deformity.
