Small Island Developing States (S.I.D.S).

Climate Change jargon for islands which are nation states, small and economically developing. Although not exclusive to the Caribbean there are certainly a lot of them in the Caribbean.

At the 2013 COP Climate Change Summit the thankless, Cat-herding, task of leading the SIDS negotiating bloc fell on Barbados' shoulders. The culmination of Jay Z giving Rihanna away at her 2012 Arranged/Marriage to me. Which I'm pretty sure makes Jay Z Rihanna's father and my ex-father-in-law.

It does make me wonder whether the US needs to abolish Presidential term-limits. It's much more satisfying smacking someone in the face and watching them learn from the experience. Rather than watching the next one stepping up to get smacked in the face, just like their predecessor got smacked in the face.

Needless to say. If and when my full Half -Time Show (2026) comes, names will be dropped!

I will need to look at the detail of Puerto Rico's Article 22 (2012). However a common problem for SIDS is that they have very small populations.

If a country with 1 million people wants to buy something which costs $1million then they can tax everyone $1. A country with only 500k people will have to tax everyone $2. A country with only 250k people will need to tax everyone $4, and so on.

A lot of SIDS address this problem by offering very low taxes rates to wealthy foreigners. 2% of $1million is a hell of a lot more than 20% of $100.

Perhaps that's something else Puerto Rico can copy from Panama(!)
