Although I'm starting to think the angry virgin mythology might be stuck somewhere even further back than that.

One of their heroes was Ayn Rand who wrote; "Atlas Shrugged" (1957).

In Greek mythology Atlas led the Titans in a war against the Olympians. They were defeated and Zeus, the leader of the Olympians, condemned Atlas to forever carry the weight of the heavens upon his shoulders.

Perseus took pity on Atlas and tried to help him with his burden by turning him to stone and exiling him to the edge of the World. Which, at the time, meant Morocco.

These days I doubt you'd have time to watch Christopher Nolan's upcoming movie adaptation of Homer's "Odyssey" on a flight between Morocco and Greece.

Of Course There's More Than One Type Of Totalitarian Capitalism.

I'm sure Pedro Pascal is familiar with State-Run Totalitarian Capitalism. State Owned Enterprises (SOE's) like Petrobras, PescaPeru, MineroPeru. And all that. However Big Tech's decision to adopt the No Nipples Rule could well be an example of State-Absent Totalitarian Capitalism. Where there are no checks on the power of Corporations. Rather like in the Captaincies before the locals got all nibbly. Or in the time of the Robber Barons during the US' Gilded Age. A small group of very rich people who own the infrastructure got together and decided this is the rule we have to live by now. Not only didn't we tell them to introduce that rule we probably don't even know who they are.
