Yeah, I've Done A Victory Lap Around Hillarys.

It seemed appropriate, with the environment still bogged down in tort law.

You may recall that at the very start of October 2023 my Father instructed a company called Hillarys to provide and install roller blinds in the windows in his sitting room. Despite charging an absurdly high price Hillarys screwed it up. The main blind was too narrow to cover the main window it was supposed to.

Looking for nothing more than a solution I offered Hillarys the option of providing a replacement blind according to my measurements which I would then install.

Instead they dug in and dug in so deep. Leading to a torturous several months which involved one of their 'expert' installers coming round to measure for a replacement, order it then return to install it. Only to discover they'd got it wrong, again, and the process had to repeat.

After this happened so many times that it cost Hillarys so much it was impossible for them to cover their costs they eventually provided a replacement blind according to my measurements.

I did let their 'expert' installer install it. Then took all the blinds down and installed them myself, properly.

More in spite than compensation they let us keep all of the wrong sized blinds. Today I installed them in my bedroom.

Obviously being made for a completely different window it doesn't cover the whole window. Leaving a, roughly, 8cm gap either side. However overlaying the other two, smaller, blinds more than covers the gap.

Obviously on the eve of the eve of the darkest day of the year I'm currently more concerned with keeping artificial light in. However in a few months time this should give me the option of blocking out some, none or all of the harsh Sunlight.

The blinds in the my Father's sitting room really came into their own during this past Summer's Heatwaves. The advice is to block the Sunlight to keep the temperature of the room down. However with curtains that really means you have to sit in the dark.

My blind system provided me with more than 5 million possible combinations to precisely balance heat and light.

Spend a lot less on the advertising department. A lot more on the doing what the f'ck you're told to do, when you're f'cking told to do it department!
