Budget Day Is A Seriously Weird Moment In British Politics.

It's as if the ability to obtain money through force is the only thing that gets politicians of all stripes truly excited.

In the Social Media era Finance Secretaries have taken to releasing these hideous staged photographs of them putting the finishing touches to the Budget the night before. As if they're rockstars trying to promote their upcoming single.

The current Chancellor took it even further. Summoning everyone for a mysterious press conference at 8am on a Monday morning at the start of the month (4/11). It turned out to be her pretty much announcing everything that was going to be in the Budget. Then about two weeks later she held another press conference announcing she'd scrapped all of those ideas.

Aside from being super annoying it was a massive breach of Parliamentary rules and procedure.

So it was inevitable that someone was going to bonk her on the nose.
