It already looks like research is off for the day.

When I do get around to it I'll probably also have to look at Brazil's history before the First Republic (1889-1930). Its time as a Portuguese Colony. This is a topic I currently know nothing about. However I'm assuming that it followed a similar model to Northern European Colonialism. Things Like The Dutch East Indies Company and the British East India Company. A private company is allowed to establish an army and take control of an area by force. In order to exploit the resources of that area for the benefit of its shareholders.
