Which Are Two Of The Reasons I Made Sure I Was Headed In The Opposite Direction.

On the way down I did face a short and slightly worrying delay.

At Clapham Junction the train before my was supposed to arrive 2-3 minutes before mine. It kept getting delayed to the point it would have been on the same bit of track as my train. Delaying my train to avoid a crash.

The train finally arrived and everyone got on. At which point the staff realised it was a completely different train, to Strawberry Fields, which was supposed to be a completely different line of track at a completely different time. Meaning wrong people had to get off and the right people had to come to the platform and get on.

"Unexpected Train in the Platform Area" is certainly an unusual reason for a delay.

Fortunately the automated signalling system seemed to know where all the trains were. It just hadn't told the station staff. All of whom had the demeanour of people who knew they were going to have to fill in an incident report.

Of course the only real question left is whether the US & Israel are also going to blow their last ever chance to use the disability access ramps provided.
