Yet I'm struggling to imagine a way for Netanyahu to continue as Commander-in-Chief of a sidearm. Let alone a nation's military.

It's one thing to be scared, confused and desperate for someone to explain to you what's happening on the morning of October 7th 2023. That was almost two years ago though. If he hasn't got himself together by now, he's never going to. 

Perhaps there's still a deal to be done, regarding his mental capacity to stand trial. The promise of a more honorable retirement than he deserves providing a ladder for him to climb down.
