I always had more of a need for further information rather than actual suspicions. 

The possability to Carbon Monoxide poisoning had some potential to be an issue. Intentional Carbon Monoxide poisioning is a leading cause of death. People committing suicide by inhaling vehicle emissions. So you can certainly intentionally kill someone with Carbon Monoxide. Even with it being caused by an apparently accidential leak you've still got issues of negligence and responsibility for maintenance.

Hantavirus is named after the Hanta River on the Korean Peninsula. It's crosses the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea and the virus was first discovered in troops during the Korean War. Gene Hackman served in the US Marines but missed the Korean War. Serving in China during the Chinese Civil War which was a prelude to the Korean War and the cause of the ongoing tensions over Taiwan. The US and South Korea are holding annual military drills against North Korea while South Korea is still experiencing the aftermath of its meltdown over Israel squandering the Transition Period.

Obviously you can deliberately infect someone with a virus. However that seems to be a very big and aggressive move for no clear objective. Strictly speaking it sounds as though Betsy Arakawa died of Sin Nombre Virus (SNV) which is closely related to Hanta Virus but isn't the Hanta Virus from Korea. The much higher fatality rate being a key difference.

Both Hanta Virus and SNV are both spread by infected Rat droppings. Which did catch my eye as I don't have to worry so much about Rats. The Foxes take care of them for me. However the reappearance of the World's bravest Squirrel on Super Bowl Sunday also caught my eye. Proving the sometimes strange coincidences happen.

Just as bad, sad things happen. Sometimes they happen to people who are also famous.
