Yeah, I Just Got Fed Up With Having To Look At That.
So I painted over the rendering on the pillar.
While I had the paint out I also gave the wall around the side door a bit of a spruce up. By which I mean I, finally, painted over the rendering which was exposed when the door & frame was put in. Longer ago than I can remember.
Finally I sorted out the guttering by the pillar.
This is something where it would be easier if I could just show you all a picture. It hardly seems worth the effort of typing it out.
However the downpipe from that guttering runs down that pillar. On one side there's a drain, feeding into a sewer. So, obviously, the downpipe had a shoe on it which leads in the opposite direction to the drain. Across the base of the pillar where the rendering fell off. Then down across the trench formed of cracked concrete I've still not finished.
Now the downpipe feeds directly into the drain. Although all the rain which doesn't go into the guttering still flows across the concrete.
It must be said though that this was all originally put in significantly before I was born. So as a middle-aged man it's hard to find too much fault.
