In #Eurovision, As The Industry.

You're often presented with a long, long parade of things that seem fun, for five minutes. Then they're, immediately, forgotten.

In fact it was a bit of a trend in the Song Contest, a few years back. To use Musical Theatre actors, who would assume the role of; "Pop Star" for those two weeks.

Then take off that role and rest for a bit. Before taking on the role of; "Eva Peron," "Mr Mactavity," "Jean Valjean," "Dinah," "Catherine of Aragon." Or some equally famous character from Musical Theatre. 

After all. Musical Theatre is still part of; "The Music Industry™."

Then, every once in a while. You see something that reminds you that you really, need to keep an eye on it.

I'm still not convinced there is a Doja Cat comparison. So much as there being around 4 billion people. Making it somewhat inevitable that, at least, two of them are going to be doing the same sort of thing. At, roughly the same sort of time.

However. Doja Cat is Jewish. On her non-specific South American Hispanic side. Although raised on a Californian Hindu Ashram.

In 2019 Eurovision led us in a parade into Israel. Where Iceland introduced us to the Haredi, their modesty standards. In certain Ultra-Orthodox sects married women are required to shave their heads. Although they are then allowed to wear wigs, in the style of their given hair.

In 2022 Doja Cat shaved her head. Explaining that she wears wigs most of the time. So her natural Afro only gets in the way, while being needlessly hot.

I liked this. Thinking it made a lot of sense, while displaying an admirable disregard for mainstream beauty standards.

Although. Knowing both facts. Perhaps I should've kept my mouth shut.

At least until she's prepared to put a little something in it!
