Really only in an effort to prove how tough it was. The previous Israeli government kept carrying out needlessly provocative raids in the West Bank.

In response the more hot-headed elements of all the Palestinian groups started working together. Largely outside of the command structures of their respective groups. Hamas, Fatah etc. Certainly outside of the control of the Palestinian Authority. Lions Den.

At the same time someone has been flooding the West Bank with small arms. Leading to, amongst other things, a huge increase in criminal violence within the Arab community.

So I've had a feeling for a while that something like this might become unavoidable.

Hopefully it ends up being less destructive than the constant cycle of; Attack, Raid. Attack, Raid. Attack, Raid.

Finally, actually breaking the wave.
