Historically the British Common Law doctrine of; "Reasonableness" has been used mainly by religious extremists. To justify their religious extremism. 

Obviously, it would be highly unreasonable to pass a law which goes against someone's interpretation of God's will.

It's particularly been used to justify their illegal settlement of other people's land.
