At Least Sri Lanka Will Be The Talk Of COP27.

Even before NATO launched its nihilistic and illegal attack on Ukraine. During the 2022 Winter Olympics held in Beijing, China.

Sri Lanka was suffering from an economic collapse. Many of the causes driving it are particularly relevant to the UNFCCC.

For example. Back in 2021 Sri Lanka banned the use of chemical fertilisers, reverting to organic farming. Reversing one of the main advances of the Third Agricultural or Green Revolution.

This collapsed domestic food production in Sri Lanka. Forcing it to rely on foreign imports.

Due to the post-WW2 Bretton-Woods order. These imports have to be paid for in US Dollars.

Sri Lanka has also been a big adopter of renewable or Green energy. Aiming to get 75% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2025.

Even in 2013 around 50% of Sri Lanka's electricity came from Hydroelectric power.

Then Climate Change caused the rivers and lakes to dry up. Meaning the Hydroelectric power plants didn't work any more.

This forced Sri Lanka to revert to fossil fuels. Specifically imported Diesel. Which is less efficient and less cost efficient than Coal or Gas.

Due to the post-WW2 Bretton-Woods order. These imports have to be paid for in US Dollars.

At the same time the Pandemic shut down international tourism. Robbing Sri Lanka of its main, really, sole source of US Dollars.

Now, isn't it just a shame.

That big red light seems to be the only thing the Bretton-Woods order are attached to.
