Having watched; "Judas and the Black Messiah." Rather than just winging it.

I can now confirm that I found the general visual style to be very reminiscent of Spike Lee's "BlacKkKlansman" (2018).

The many references to 1970's pimp culture invoked; "The Deuce." Emily Meade's nudity and all that entails.

Martin Sheen's portrayal of J. Edgar Hoover had a definite air of Rudy Giuliani about it.

To TV viewers Martin Sheen is probably most famous for; "The West Wing." In which he played President Jeb Bartlett. A Democrat.

Personally I found Daniel Kaluuya's performance to be a little heavy handed. Although that's probably true of most Oscar winning performances.

It's clearly all just Small Axe though.
