As I Was Saying To Rihanna.
"Ugh! It's an absolutely massive topic."

It's always been a big problem in how Neo-Liberal theory has been applied. Allowing large multi-nationals from more economically developed nations to enter the market. Crushing the local competition.
It should though be possible for India to do much needed farm reform while avoiding those problems. Such as by excluding, in law, large or foreign firms like Monsanto from the market.
Leaving things like the hoarding of supplies only to the government or small, local buyers.
I can see though why it would be popular. Amid the smog and the shame of being seen to even be talking to Britain. After Britain screwed India so hard over Covid.
To get rid of a policy which has increasingly been seen as racially/religiously divisive.
Even if it does leave India, as a former British Colony, looking like it's rejecting Neo-Liberalism in favour of Neo-Colonialism.

Although that's probably why Britain rushed the story out.
