Yeah. That's the mystery of the Equestrian events. See the Highlight Reels in the Closing Ceremony.

The Equestrian events are unusual. In the sense that the athlete doesn't actually do the event.

Instead they, effectively, manipulate the Horse into doing the event for them.

As a result. Equestrian events tend to distract the disordered thought processes.

The people who believe they have magical superpowers. Can perform Jedi mind-tricks.

Prior to the Japanese lesson. I was teaching everyone the; "Cavaletti" method of Horse training.

Using small logs or fences. To teach Horses things like pacing and stride length.

Those fundamental skills are useful in really anything to do with Horses. However they're particularly on display during Olympic Dressage.

Specifically I was teaching the method pioneered by Reiner Klimke. Who won Gold in Dressage at the 1964 Olympics. Held in Tokyo, Japan.

In the several months leading up to the games. This was a massive, running joke during the Equestrian qualifying events.

It actually played a roloe in Bruce Springsteen's daughter, Jessica Springsteen being selected for the US Equestrian team.

So I don't see how that translated into Britain doing really well at the Equestrian events.

As they were the butt of the joke.
