It seems a fairly valid comparison.

With Nazi Germany in the 1930's. Rather than in the 1940's. Obviously.

But wasn't that part of the problem? No-one thinking it could ever go that far.

Particularly as even back then Disney would silence anyone who dared suggest it could.
