In a Clinical Sense That's Really a Distraction.

The virus (2019nCoV) doesn't technically kill people. In the same way that no-one's ever actually died of Human Immunodifficency Virus (HIV).
Instead, in certain cases, 2019nCoV causes Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (2019nCoV-SARS).
Like all syndromes SARS is diagnosed by a set of symptoms. You then treat those symptoms.
Regardless of the cause - 2019nCoV-SARS, 2002-SARSrCoV, HCoV-EMC/2012. Or an almost infinite number of viruses, bacteria or fungi. The treatment is the same.
Testing is really more to do with surveillance. How the virus behaves and how the virus behaves in the population.
It's really only relevant if you're a major virus nerd.
