The Ghosts of Christmas Future.
On February 18th (18/2/20) my mother was subjected to a dog attack. Bacteria entered her body from the dog's mouth from the facial lacerations she sustained.
This infection required her to be hospitalised on Monday (24/2/20). After treatment with broad spectrum, IV antibiotics she has been released today.
Britain accompained its attack with the Zurick case. A domestic violence murder-suicide amongst gundog trainers. Which occured on the property directly adajcent to that of the father of the current Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
America very publically explained the situation to Britain. Through the swift conviction of Harvey Weinstein.
It almost goes without saying that my mother has reacted in the way that all abuse victims do. Making excuses for the abuser and trying to minimise their responsibility.
Apparently the bacterial infection wasn't necessarily caused by the dog bites. It could just be a total coincidence and nobody's fault.
That led to some discussion about how the hospital had obviously performed tests to indentify the specific type and cause of the infection. Even before the Skripals it's a bit of a family joke about that hospital being unable to tell the difference between bacterial and viral infections.
That, in turn, led to a bit of a discussion about Sepsis. Really the worst case scenario for any bacterial infection.
It also seems to serve as something of an apt metaphor for Britain. People often don't realise they're sick until it's too late and there is nothing more that can be done for them.
Speaking of family in-jokes my mothers have a dog. My brother has a girlfriend. She is terrified of the dog. Which, as far as the dog is concerned, makes her the most interesting person in the World.
This woman is not just of Indian heritage. She was actually born in India. Although, I suspect, as a Muslim Narenda Modi would dispute that she is Indian.
Rabies is of course endemic in India.
So suddenly, thanks to this little incident, her dislike of dogs doesn't seem quite so irrational.
I should also mention. While this was happening on Monday (24/2/20) my London based doctor was calling desperate for me to make an appointment.
It's certainly interesting that suddenly everyone's focused on my mental health.
