2020 Half-Time Show: Scattered Thoughts.

In order to cover the Half-Time Show in detail I will first need to go through it in detail. Possibly while sober.

I appreciate though that time is of the essence. So;

It was billed as the Jennifer Lopez and Shakira show. It really wasn't.

It was the Shakira show. Jennifer Lopez was reduced to the role of legacy act special guest. Rather like how Janet Jackson was Justin Timberlake's legacy act in 2004.

Madonna may have got the impression she was being slightly mocked. In a show that was heavily influenced by the Shakira and Rihanna Two-Tone "Can't Remember to Forget You" video from 2014.

Shakira was in something of a quietly subversive mood. In the wake of the Kaepernick backlash the NFL clearly made the booking to reach out to a Hispanic audience. The didn't seem to count on the risk of Shakira introducing NFL fans to her husband. The very famous Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique.

If there was a main theme to the show it was menstruation and female reproductive health.

This was a trend begun by Greece's 2019 Eurovision Song Contest entry. Which unapologetically brought heterosexual female issues to an event famous for its very gay male fanbase. It is something that will have to flow through to the Oscars.

The little touch of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" gives you an idea of the level of talent you're talking about when it comes to Shakira; https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/content/women-in-kashmir-india-report-mhm-issues/

It is worth pointing out that Shakira is a 43 year old mother of two. You would assume the 50 year old Jennifer Lopez has been forced to freeze her eggs.

Particularly the egg containing Emma Gonzalez. The famously Bisexual survivor of the Parkland massacre.

Which, much like Shakira's tongue, puts me into a delicate area.

You may think that there is one advantage about being in a relationship with a Bisexual woman. That you can both perv on female celebrities. Such as Shakira.

You would be wrong.

Very, very wrong.
