It was terrible.
Like something out of the Soviet Union. If you wanted a second phone on the same line you had to apply to BT.
If you could prove to then you needed it and received permission it would take like a year for them to install it.
You couldn't buy the phone and the cable and do it yourself.
Sales of those items were strictly forbidden. To protect BT's monopoly.
