A Quick Clarification.
Or apology, if you like.
I am obviously gearing up to do a much longer and much more detailed version.
However ovvernight into Sunday (27/10/19) the US carried out "Operation: Mueller" in Syria. Officially named after Kayla Mueller. Even if there is a more infamous Mueller in the community.
This operation was undoubtedly led by fully qualified and certified US Special Operations Forces (SOF's).
However it was not your typical SOF raid. Ironically the movie; "Zero Dark Thirty" was actually on British TV last night.
Instead it was a commando force raid. It seemed to involve an airborne assault larger than the one required to liberate the Syrian town of Taqba. Back in the spring of 2017.
This is normally what happens when a SOF raid has gone wrong. Forcing a commando force to come in and rescue the SOF's. The movie; "Lone Survivour" being a widely accessible example.
On this occassion though US military planners simply decided to go in that hard to begin with. Something to do with them having to assault a large, heavily defended ISIL compound.
A large, heavily defended ISIL compound sitting around 10km (6 miles) from a Turkish military base.
Given their usual level of bias on these matters the Washington Post's coverage was hardly that surprising.
