Twitter Avoids Tax.

Twitter avoids tax by basing its European Union (EU) operations in the Republic of Ireland. Specifically on Dublin's Fenian Street.

I'm really concerned then that they may be contemplating harming themselves. Or being urged by the Irish government to harm themselves. By attempting to turn this into a performance piece regarding Brexit.

Some of the UK Conservative Party leadership contenders are planning to play hard ball with the EU. Leave without an agreement and then withhold outstanding funds until the EU backs down.

This would be something which is very much above Twitter's paygrade. It may even be above the Irish government's paygrade.

This weekend, June 8th (8/6/19) and June 9th (9/6/19), has seen a summit of G20 Finance Ministers. The Irish economy is not big enough to qualify for this meeting. Being represented only as part of the EU.

For some reason tech companies, such as Twitter, were suddenly deeply unpopular at this meeting. The G20 nations, including the EU, agreed to close the tax loopholes Twitter takes advantage of by basing itself in the Republic of Ireland.

Meanwhile this past week has cost me absolutely nothing.

For the past five years I've been looking for an excuse to take a holiday.
